Tijuana Xolos vs Atlante: Final game

Could be the last game of 2013 at Estadio Caliente

TIJUANA - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles could be playing their final game of 2013 in the Estadio Caliente tonight against Atlante. Xolos will need to win this game, win their final game of the regular season in Leon next weekend and hope that between these two weeks enough results go their way to have a chance at qualifying to the playoffs. Very unlikely, but not impossible.

Xolos vs Atlante match for the 16th week of the Apertura season of the Liga Bancomer MX is scheduled for tonight Friday November 1 at 7:30PM local time from the Estadio Caliente.

Xoloitzcuintles are currently only four points, with six to play from a playoff spot; but there are also four teams between them and that qualifying 8th place spot. Xolos are in 12th place with 18 points and must win take the next six points and hope that Puebla, Veracruz, Tigres and Queretaro all drop points.

For tonight’s match Tijuana should be able to walk away with the win. They will face a weak Atlante side that sit in last place of the league with 9 points, tied with Chivas but a worse goal difference. Atlante also is in great danger of relegation as they are last place of the percentage table, 10 points behind Atlas.

Whether or not the team makes the playoffs Tijuana Xolos will want to close out the season with a win to maintain their home unbeaten record which now stands at 13 games. This unbeaten streak dates back to last season’s Copa Libertadores, the Clausura 2012, and it includes all home games this season in the Apertura 2012 and CONCACAF Champion’s League.
