Jorge Almiron no longer Tijuana Xolos manager

The club has made the decision official

TIJUANA - Through a press release on Sunday morning Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles have announced that Jorge Almiron will no longer be the manager of the club. The announcement stated that both the club and now former manger cordially agree that continuing the working relationship was no longer in the best interest.

This decision come after the Xolos have officially ended their participation in the 2013 Apertura season of the Liga Bancomer MX where they failed to qualified to the playoffs. They had come into last night's match against Leon with the slightest possibilities of making the playoffs but the 5-0 defeat and the combination of results elsewhere left the Xolos out.

Jorge Almiron did manage to keep the team undefeated in the Estadio Caliente the entire season, but it was the terrible away form that led to the team not making the playoffs. Xolos finished the season with 0 wins, 2 draws, and 6 losses on the road.

Almiron was also responsible for qualifying the team into the knockout stages of the CONCACAF Champions League; tournament that will resume in 2014 under new management.
