TIJUANA - The Xolo fans once again responded in great fashion with another good size crowd at the Estadio Caliente to support the Xoloitzcuintles in their semifinal first leg match against Leon; match that they won by a scoreline of 2-0.

The first half started with a lot of intensity from both sides; both teams looked for the opposition's goal. Tijuana with their speed were slightly superior than their opponents.

The Xoloitzcuintles managed to open up the scoring in the 21st minute when American Esteban "Stevie" Rodriguez had a long range shot that beat the visiting goalkeeper. This was Rodriguez's third goal in three U-20 playoff matches so far this season.

Late in the first half in the 41st minute the center referee awarded Club Tijuana a penalty kick after a shot struck a defender in the hand inside the penalty area. Central defender Oliver Ortiz stepped up and converted the PK into the 2-0 for the home side.

In the second half the visiting side tried to push forward in search of that all important away goal. But made life harder on themselves in the 65th minute when Oscar Saavedra saw his second yellow card of the match and left his team a man down.

In the 77th minute Leon thought they had found that away goal they desperately wanted, but Juan Flores' goal was called off for an offsides. The center referee is the one who made the call to not allow the goal; the assistant referee never raised his flag, but the referee still blew his whistle.

Club Tijuana will now go visit Leon on Saturday night in what will be the return leg of this semifinal.
