His dad is Mexican, having been born in a Mormon colony in Chihuahua, Mexico, but the politician has said that he doesn't believe that ties him to the country: "I think It would be false on my part, since in my case, my father was born in Mexico and I'm proud of my heritage, but he was the son of American citizens that lived in the country during those times, but they weren't Hispanic."
