Tijuana mayor promotes city at medical industry event in Anaheim

Mayor Astiazarán also improves ties with the California city

ANAHEIM.- Tijuana mayor Jorge Astiazarán Orcí attended the Medical Design & Manufacturing Executive Summit today, to give a lecture about the Tijuana Medical Manufacturing Outlook and as a way to promote investment into the city's medical manufacturing industry.

"We already went to see some of the companies that are already in the city. We also are visiting some potential clients for our region. The objective is to create new employment sources, but above all, better paying jobs that require more technical capabilities and know-how", said Mayor Asstiazarán.

For his part, the president of the Tijuana Economic Development Corporation (EDC), Enrique Esparza González, reiterated that the purpose of the visit was to promote Tijuana's advantages for the medical industry, highlighting that it currently holds the largest concentration of companies in the field, in the entire country.

Esparza González also thanked Mayor Astiazarán for coming to the summit, since his presence helps raise the interest of companies hoping to invest in the Tijuana.

Towards the end of his lecture, Astiazarán headed towards the ‘MedTechWorld West’ exposition, one of the largest in the western United States, with more than 2,300 companies in the area of medical device manufacturing. Likewise, he met with the mayor of Anaheim, Tom Tait, as a way to increase friendship and collaboration between both cities.

The Tijuana Economic Development Secretary, Xavier Peniche Bustamante; Economic Development director, Raúl Carmona Carrillo; and the ProMéxico Exchange and Investment commissioner, Juan Carlos Briseño Merino, also accompanied the city delegation to the event.
