ENSENADA.- Backed by certified beer judges (a lot more sophisticated than it sounds), independent master and professional brewers from Baja California, San Luis Potosi Monterrey, Mexico City and California will compete for 100,000 pesos (about 7,700 dollars) in prizes, although, the real winners will be attendees who will have the opportunity to enjoy their great alcoholic creations.
The "2014 Ensenada Beerfest" will be held at the former hotel and now Convention Center Riviera, located on Costero boulevard (Lázaro Cárdenas) and Club Rotario Avenue, in Ensenada. The festival is aimed at craft-beer fans and those looking to try an alternative to commercial beer, offering the best craft brews in Baja and Mexico.
The event starts on Friday, March 21st with a day of lectures (both in English and Spanish) and a beer tasting from 2 to 8 p.m. Tickets to the event that day will be $32 USD, and includes beer tastings along with regional food sampling. Saturday 22nd is catered more towards the general public, with the price of admission being $8 and includes a commemorative cup. Both days will have live music throughout different stages.
For tickets, enter www.ensenadabeerfest.com or at the box office on the day of the event.
