Tijuana Xolos vs Chivas Guadalajara: Two middle pack teams looking to rise

Xolos hosts Chivas on Friday night.

TIJUANA - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente will host Chivas of Guadalajara on Friday night in week 10 action of the Clausura 2014 season of LIGA Bancomer MX. It will be a battle between two middle of the pack sides who are looking for a win to rise in the standings and have a better chance of grabbing a playoff ticket at the end of the season.

The match is scheduled for tomorrow Friday March 7th at 7:30pm local time from the Estadio Caliente in Tijuana, BC. The match will be shown live in the U.S. on Azteca America and ESPN Deportes.

The Xolos lost a 10 month (17 consecutive matches) unbeaten streak at home two weeks ago when they suffered a 0-3 loss to Chiapas FC, and they’ll be looking to take out those frustrations on Chivas of Guadalajara.

The Xoloitzcuinltes find themselves in 10th place on 11 points; only one point away from 8th place Atlante (playoff zone) and only two points away from Chivas (7th). A win on Friday and Tijuana will pass Guadalajara and possibly lay claim to a playoff spot.

Chivas had found themselves in the top four of the table two weeks ago, but only picking up one point from the last six has seen them drop. They’ll be looking to give the border town dogs their second consecutive home upset.

The last time Chivas came up north to visit the Xolos, they took a 4-0 beating from the hosts; in what was the first of those 17 unbeaten games at home for Tijuana.
