Javier Güemez: "Looking for confidence"

Tijuana Xolos midfielder spoke to the media on Wednesday morning

TIJUANA - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente face another tough week ahead of them with a trip to Queretaro in week 13 action of the LIGA Bancomer MX, followed by CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) first leg semifinal against Cruz Azul a few days later.

According to Tijuana Xolos midfielder Javier Güemez getting a win on the road over Queretaro won't be easy, but it just might propel the team to bigger and better things.

"We know Queretaro is going to be a tough opponent. They just just beat Tigres and it was huge for them. But we are only really concerned with what we do. It is important to win away from home because we know we only have two more home games.

"A win over Queretaro is important because it will get us closer to the playoffs. And it will give us that boost of confidence for the final games of the season."

Regarding their difficult CCL series against Cruz Azul - a team that the Xoloitzcuintles have never been able to defeat - Güemez believes that Tijuana are stronger match against the current league leaders and have plenty of possibilities to advance to the final.

"I am not worried at all about Cruz Azul. Last game we played against them (a 2-1 Cruz Azul win) we took them to the brink. And we had several U-20 players. With a full team I am sure we can get the result we need."
