Queretaro vs Tijuana Xolos: Looking to capture the ghost of the road

A heavy schedule for Xolos kicks off on Friday night.

QUERETARO - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente left Thursday morning to Queretaro where on Friday night they'll take on the "Gallos Blancos" of Queretaro in week 13 action of LIGA Bancomer MX. This game will kick off a heavy schedule for the Xolos that will include three games in seven days.

The Club Queretaro vs Club Tijuana match is scheduled for Friday March 28th at 7:30pm local time (6:30pm pacific time) from the Estadio Corregidora in Queretaro. This match will be televised live in the United States on Azteca America and ESPN Deportes.

It has been one year two months and seven days (today, one day prior to the match) since the Xoloitzcuintles won a game on the road. The team is anxious to get this negative record off of their backs once in for all; and they have a good opportunity to do it on Friday night.

A win over the the "Gallos" will allow the Xolos to come home with a huge load off of their backs as they get set to face Cruz Azul on Tuesday night at the Estadio Caliente in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League.

Tijuana Xolos are currently sitting right outside of the playoff zone in the league table. They are in 9th place with 17 points and a goal difference of -2; tied in points with Chivas and Club America who better the Xolos with goal differences of -1 and 0 respectfully.

The Xoloitzcuintles will need all three points in order to not complicate their playoff hopes. The schedule does not get easier from here on out as they are scheduled to face Cruz Azul twice in the CCL, as well as second place Toluca and the reigning Liga MX champions Leon.

Once again due to the international fixture only a few days after the Queretaro match, Xolos manager Cesar Farias could be sending in an alternative lineup on Friday night. Similar to what he did a few weeks ago when the Xolos traveled to Mexico City to face Cruz Azul in league play with the LA Galaxy match only a few days away.
