Liga MX Week 13 Preview

Super Clasico week in Mexico.

MEXICO - With only five matches remaining in the Clausura 2014 season of the LIGA Bancomer MX everything from top of the league, playoff tickets, and relegation races start to heat up. Here is a look at the matches for the 13th match day in Mexico. All times are Pacific Standard Time and all TV listing are U.S. television channels.

FRIDAY:

Queretaro vs Club Tijuana - 6:30pm PST - Azteca America & ESPN Deportes

The Xolos look to finally pick up three points on the road after going over a year without doing so. READ A COMPLETE MATCH PREVIEW HERE.

Santos vs Pumas UNAM - 8:30pm PST - Univision Deportes Network

This will probably be the second most interesting and entertaining match of the week. Santos are full of confidence, but also somewhat tired from their Copa Libertadores participation. Pumas have been one of the most solid teams in the season but have dropped shocking losses like last weekend at home to Monterrey.

SATURDAY:

Cruz Azul vs Atlas - 4:00pm PST - Univision

The league leaders Cruz Azul host Atlas three days prior to them traveling to Tijuana for the CONCACAF Champions League semifinal first leg against the Xolos. Atlas have been picking up points slowly and have started momentum away from the relegation race. They are not out of danger, but will be a difficult team to beat.

Veracruz vs Pachuca - 4:00pm PST - Univision Deportes Network

Veracruz are right on the edge of dropping to the bottom position of the relegation table. They will be full of confidence following their 0-0 draw against Club America in the mythical Estadio Azteca. Pachuca who sit in 3rd place in the league table could practaclly seal their playoff ticket with a win.

Monterrey vs Atlante - 6:00pm PST - Univision Deportes Network

Monterrey are off of an important win on the road over Pumas that saw them leave the shared bottom of the table position they had with Veracruz. Atlante who are still last place of the relegation table managed to beat 2nd place Toluca last weekend and are in 5th place of the league table. If they can manage to avoid relegation, a playoff spot is in their reach. Only 4 points separates Atlante from both Puebla and Atlas.

Toluca vs Tigres - 6:00pm PST - TV: TBD

Second place Toluca will look to rebound from last weekend's loss to Atlante and their troubled qualification to the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals with a win over the inconsistent Tigres. Toluca barely got through a weak San Jose Earthquakes side on penalty shootout in the quarterfinals of the CCL. Tigres seemed to have turned around their early season struggles, but a loss at home to struggling Queretaro last weekend proofs that no one knows what to expect from "Tuca" Ferreti's men.

Chiapas FC vs Morelia - 8:00pm PST - Univision Deportes Network

Morelia look to continue their way back from early season disgrace. Now with their 4th manager on the bench, they are just outside of the playoff spots and look to make a late push for a ticket. Chiapas will be distracted with off field money problems, but can hurt any team out of the blue.

SUNDAY:

Puebla vs Leon - 11:00am PST - Azteca America & ESPN Deportes

The reigning Mexican league champions Leon will travel into the struggling Puebla house. The champs are carrying struggles of their own as they are currently outside of the playoff zone in the league table, and have complicated their Copa Libertadores campaign with a 0-1 loss at home to Bolivar.

Chivas vs Club America - 6:00pm PST - Unimas & Univision Deportes Network

The game of the week also happens to be the game of the season, the Super Clasico in Mexico. Both Chivas and America are tied in points on the 8th and 7th place of the table respectfully and both need the win to stay inside of the top eight going into the final four matches of the season. This game will be for pride, glory, and playoffs.
