Next Xolos opponent Atlante has already been relegated

Atlante comes into the match against Xolos with nothing to play for.

TIJUANA - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente are training hard in the alternative grass field of the Estadio Caliente in preparations of their next Clausura 2014 LIGA Bancomer MX match in Cancun against Atlante.

Atlante suffered a 4-3 loss in Torreon to Santos Laguna this past Sunday evening and with that result came the sentence that they will be the next team to be dropped to the Ascenso MX.

The loss leaves Atlante six points back of Puebla with two games to go; Atlante could still catch Puebla on points. But the goal difference of about 30 goals between them makes it almost impossible for Atlante to pass Puebla.

Tears of sadness and frustration were seen on the atlante players following the final whistle on Sunday night as they now know for a fact that they have failed in their attempt to achieve first division salvation.

According to Tijuana native Fernando Arce the fact that they will face a wounded and already relegated Atlante could be a double edge sword for the Xolos.

"Sure they are relegated already, but all season long they have gone out there with the tremendous pressure of the relegation race. But now that pressure will be off of them and they might end up playing a little looser.

"It can be a double edge sword. We need to go into this game with the highest level of concentration and get the win."

The week 16 match against the Xoloitzcuintles in the Estadio Quinatana Roo will be the last home game in first division for Atlante in at least a year's time.
