Miguel Herrera: "Time to be with 'Chapito' "

The Mexican National Team manager Miguel Herrera says the team is focused on being there for Luis Montes.

DALLAS - Mexican National Team manager Miguel "Piojo" Herrera attended the post game still a little in shock from what had happened out on the soccer field where two of his players had to be taken to the hospital.

"Right now all we want to do is go see "Chapo" (Luis Montes), the players want to be with him" said Miguel "Piojo" Herrer as he kicked off the post game press conference, "we need to be with him, he is an important member of this team. Later we'll see what happens next."

Leon midfielder Luis Montes went into a 50/50 challenge against Ecuador's Segundo Castillo and both players went down injured. Cased on the images of the collision and the way Montes' leg hanged; a double fracture is suspected.

It is also suspected that Segundo Castillo suffered some ligament damage and both players are probably going to miss the World Cup.

Herrera - who was clearly still unable to fully process what had just happened - said he still doesn't understand how this could have happened to a player like Luis Montes.

"When players like him have that drive and that desire, these things shouldn't happen; but they did. An accidental play and two players go down injured" explained Herrera. "It really gets you. It hurts deep down to see a young man like that full of life and joy."

Once the dark and horrible news that everyone suspects is confirmed, the likely candidate to take Luis Montes' place on the Mexican World Cup roster will be Villarreal FC's Javier Aquino.
