Official: James signs with Real Madrid

It will be a 6 year contract

Both Real Madrid and Monaco have confirmed on their web sites that "La Liga" outfit and current UEFA champions have agreed to pay the French club, the astronomic fee of £80m ($107.7m) for the services of their rising star James Rodriguez. The Colombian will wear the number 10 jersey.

The Colombian midfielder had already reached a verbal agreement with the Spanish club, but today, sources have confirmed, that the 2014 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner, has finally put pen to paper, as he agreed on Madrid's offer of a 6 year contract, with a hefty pay of €8m ($10.8m) per year.

Rodriguez would be Madrid's second reinforcement, as they have already bolstered their squad with the addition of German midfielder Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich, who was payed £24m ($41m) for the services of the Bayern Munich player who signed a six-year contract. The world champion will receive an annual salary of €6m ($8.11m).

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder could very well receive the coveted #10 that we've seen him sport on the Colombia national team and AS Monaco, that is of course if the capital city team doesn't make a surprise move for Radamel Falcao, who sources have confirmed to be seen wandering Madrid as of yesterday. A return of the "Tiger" to the city that saw him become a superstar is a possibility. It's as if Real Madrid were keen on taking over the Colombian project that AS Monaco had installed last year.

James Rodriguez who had just moved to Monaco from Porto last year for £40m ($68.3m), was a key element in his team's second place table positioning and the return of the Ligue 1 outfit to Champions League football. The Colombian's presentation is set for this Tuesday morning.
