Tecate will get a tourism face-lift

Recreation areas are being renovated as well as new infrastructure added

TECATE.- According to estimates developed by Baja's Secretary of Tourism, this year 139.4 million pesos will be invested in various projects in Tecate in order to attract more tourist activities, this according to Oscar Escobedo, head of the agency.

During a recent get-together, Escobedo stated that "the public and private sector are coming together more than ever, which is why this administration, under Governor Francisco Vega, anticipates closing off the year with important investments to rehabilitate public spaces, new tourism projects, infrastructure, and promotion"

Escobedo states that the amount will specifically aimed at impulsing tourist activity, 42.9 million pesos will be derived from private investment.

"The investment of these resources is overseen by the Secretary of Tourism for the State of Baja and will be specifically destined toward the hotel, restaurant, and recreation sectors."

He added that an additional 15 million pesos has been destined toward the renovation of the Traditional Center of Tecate.

"We are trying to ensure that our Magical Town is better than ever, which is why we will also bring in 6.5 million pesos to work on the River Park (Rio Parque), another 2 million for illumination of the public streets, improvement of athletic installations, and other public areas, as well as 70.1 million to rehabilitate tunel number three and the railway of the Tijuana-Tecate

Another 1.5 million provided for by the National Tourism Fund will be used to make Tecate the Northern Gate to the Guadalupe wine valley. "We must not forget that Tecate is really the beginning of the famous wine route, and we need to put it on the level it deserves.

Finally, he ensured that all these actions will be supported by tourism campaigns, with an investment of 1.3 million pesos.
