Report: Xabi Alonso reaches verbal agreement to sign for Bayern Munich

The transfer will take places this week

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso isn't an instrumental player for Ancelotti's team any more. This is why he has decided to hear offers from other teams that can guarantee him the playing minutes he requires to stay at a top level. One of the most interested teams to hire him are German giants Bayern Munich, a team that according to Spanish media have announced that they've reached a complete and verbal agreement with the midfielder for a transfer.

With the arrivals of players like James Rodriguez and World Champion Toni Kroos, Alonso's options to stay in the starting line-up have dramatically diminished. Spanish media outlet 'La Sexta' assures, Xabi Alonso will be going to Bundesliga this week. Real Madrid have also stated that if this a decision made by Alonso himself, they wouldn't oppose to his more than likely transfer.

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is still trying to cover the last minute Javi Martinez absence from the fields by first acquiring the services of Roma's Moroccan defender Mehdi Benatia. But as soon as Guardiola found out Xabi Alonso might be looking to exit Real Madrid, he called the midfielder to offer him a spot in the club which Xabi Alonso sees as a good option.

The midfielder from Tolosa has announced his retirement from international football earlier today, which means he will dedicate his last football years exclusively to the club he ends up with.

More to come on Alonso's situation as the story unfolds.
