Food trucks keep popping up around the city adding to the vibrant culinary community in Baja California. But, in order to stand out they need to offer more than just good food. You can tell that Danke took this seriously when they created their menu, heavily influenced by German food. The food is not pretentious and can easily be enjoyed by the average customer.

Last week, I was invited to attend the official ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the food truck parked in Playas de Tijuana, a widely visited area with not very many options. Danke is conveniently located right next to the baseball courts, making it super convenient.

The menu is mostly made up of hamburgers, but all the meat is rib-eye on homemade bread, which makes it stand-out among other options. Yesterday we got to try their 50/50 hamburger, one of their specialties. The burger is half rib eye, half bacon, with melted swiss cheese on top and organic lettuce, tomato, caramelized onion and house mayo. It was exquisite yet so unassuming, very simply presented. The flavor of the meet is what knocks the flavor out of the ballpark.

Other offerings include a classic hamburger, a portobello burger, and a veggie burger. They also have philly cheese sandwiches, german sausange prepared Frankfurt style, Poutine fries, and clam chowder in a bread bowl. They are also probably one of the few places in the city where you can get a Rootbeer Float. This place will have me coming back again and again.

Danke is located on Parque Azteca Norte avenue, corner of Paseo Ensenada in Playas de Tijuana. They also deliver nearby and are open daily from 1:00 pm hasta las 8:00 pm.
