Anti-immigrant groups plan to block border crossings on September 20th

They protest captured marine, muslim terrorism, and want an electric fence along the border

UNITED STATES.- A coalition of anti-immigrant groups are planning a massive protest at 26 border crossings between Mexico and the U.S., with the goal of shutting them down on September 20th.

What are their complaints?

A large variet of topics and demands, ranging from freeing the former marine, Andrew Tahmooressi, who is currently in the midst of criminal proceedings in Tijuana, and even the construction of an enormous electric fence to "seal" off the border with Mexico.

The protest is called "Shut Down All Ports", organized by "Secure Our Borders",]"California Coalition for Immigration Reform", "American Border Patrol", and other armed volunteers such as the "Patriots" and "Oathkeepers", those that "watch" the southern border from time to time.

"They will stand ground until our goals are achieved", said Rob Chupp, one of the organizers of "Shut Down All Ports." They claim to have more than 1,000 participants signed up to block almost half of the 47 ports of entry between the U.S. and Mexico, and have even bragged that "this will stop the flow of around 400 million dollars in trade, for one day."

Amongst the main demands are:

Free Former Sgt. Andrew Tahmorroessi

Install an electric fence along the border (or an equivalent) along with constant military presence to seal off the border

Apply all federal immigration laws without exception (including Differred Action, etc.)

Make Mexico pay for half of the costs associated with stopping, processing, and deporting undocumented migrants

They also warn about the supposed danger of extremist islamic groups using the border as a way to enter the United States, an unfounded fear of the right-wing that has resurged since September 11. According to the coalition, Hamas, the Islamic State of Iraq and Siria (ISIS), and al-Qaeda.

"El Diario" newspaper in Ciudad Juarez and authorities on both sides of the border have reported that no such credible threat of islamic terrorist groups crossing the border with Mexico, but the fear persists among various anti-immigrant groups and various politicians.
