Ensenada Competes for "Best Tourist Destination in Mexico"

Also may be voted as Best Gourmet Destination

ENSENADA.-Readers of the "Food and Travel" magazine have nominated Ensenada in the category of Best Tourism Destination in Mexico, and Best Gourmet Destination, according to the Secretary of Tourism for the State of Baja, Oscar Jesus Escobedo.

"This is an excellent opportunity for Baja California to build on its reputation as one of the best destinations for Mexicans, and just being on the list shows us that the market has its eyes on our region and we should take advantage of that", he said.

In both categories, Ensenada competes with other destinations such as Cancun, Quintana Roo; Los Cabos, Baja California Sur; Oaxaca, Oaxaca, and San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.

"Without a doubt, it is an honor for all the hard work to be recognized", and to recognize the work that the Governor and Tourism related administrations have done on a daily basis.

He added that Restaurant "Corazón de Tierra", located in the Wine Country has also been nominated as the Best Restaurant in Mexico and Best New Restaurant, as well as their chef Roberto Alcocer who competes in the category of Revelation Chef, and Guillermo Gonzalez Beristain, a reknown chef from Ensenada who lives in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon and is nominated for the title of Best Chef in Mexico. "

"It is true that the Wine Route and Baja cuisine have been anchors but we should use them as a way to show visitors that Baja is a well-rounded destination, and a first-class place with much more to offer," said Escobedo.

Finally, he added that voting will close on October 17, and invites Baja Californians to visit the website foodandtravel.mx/awards to vote for their favorite
