Rosarito-Puerto Nuevo Half Marathon on October 5th

Here are 7 tips to help you prepare for it

ROSARITO.-If a full marathon seems a little too intense for you, but you want to get the feel for running, then the Rosarito-Puerto Nuevo half marathon is for you.

We're not saying that running is easy and we are not underestimating the difficulty of a 21k run, but there will be those that have trained and will be there to actually compete and then there are those that just want to try out the course -with the option of not running the whole course - just for the pleasure of gettting their feet wet.

It will be the tenth edition of the Rosarito-Puerto Nuevo marathon, to be held on October 5th and enrollment is now open to those who'd like to participate. So, you can start mentally and physically preparing for it. How? Here are some tips for those that will be running their first half marathon:

1.-Be consistent with your training but don't forget to include rest days, and try to slowly increment the distance you run each week, as long as you feel comfortable enough.

[p]2.- Carbohidrates are your best friend when you run. These increase your glucose reserves in your muscles and liver, offering the sensation of energy and increasing performance.

3.-Hidration is fundamental if you want't to be succesful. Make sure to stay well hidrated at least a week in advance of the event.

[p]This will help you absorb the carbohidrates.

4.- Avoid drinking coffee, dairy, and irritating or fatty food prior to the event. You will want to stay light so eat fruit for energy. Bananas are an excellent option that will also prevent cramps.

5.-Warm up with a mild trot and movements targetted at your joints.

6.-Use clothes and shoes that you have already broken in during training. It is not a good idea to wear brand new stuff on run day, and this way you will avoid rashes and blisters.

[p]7.-Sleep eight hours every day, and especially leading up to the marathon.

The half marathon from Rosarito to Puerto Nuevo is a good option and will be yet another fun event in the calendar of activities organized by Rosarito with health-conscienceness at mind. Don't miss it. For more info, click on the following images: [/b]
