The biographical film of the life of Cantinflas the so called Charlie Chaplin of Mexico -has been selected by the Mexican Institute of Cinematography to represent Mexico in a competition that could position it be selected for an Oscar nomination in 2015 in the category of "Best Foreign Film". The film, directed by Sebastian Del Amo, stars Spanish actor Oscar Jaenada stellarly interpreting Mexican legend Mario Moreno "Cantinflas". Critics have acclaimed his performance in this film, which includes actors Bárbara Mori, Ilse Salas,Ana Layevska, Adal Ramones, Gabriela de la Garza, Ximena Gónzalez-Rubio, Luis Gerardo Méndez and Joaquín Cosio, among many others.

Cantinflas tells the story of Mario Moreno "Cantinflas", one of the most beloved comedians in Mexico, who conquered the screen in over 50 movies. He got his begginings in circus acts, where he developed his Cantinflas personality, and eventuallyacted in the Hollywood production Around the World in Eighty Days, which earned him a Golden Globe award.

Cantinflas will be released on September 18 in movie theatres throughout Mexico.
On a similar note La Dictadura Perfecta, or The Perfect Dictator, by Luis Estrada, has been selected amoung 19 other films competing to represent Mexico in the 29th annual Goya Awards, in the category of best Iberoamerican film.
[p]This film stars Damián Alcázar, Alfonso Herrera, Joaquín Cosío, Osvaldo Benavides and Silvia Navarro, and is a film critical of the Mexican Government and a president that makes mistakes and requires help from a television company to get out of trouble each time before it evolves into a larger public image crisis.
