Traditional Mexican Design on Modern Footwear

Ricardo Seco Collaborates with New Balance

NEW YORK.- Indigenous inspired design stole the show during the most recent New York Fashion Week in a line-up of footwear designs. The product was a colorful beaded shoe, created by New Balance and Mexican designer Ricardo Seco, who combined modern footwear with traditional huichol designs.

As part of a collection titled "Dreams", which will be launched spring of next year, Seco created various designs of shoes covered in the traditional miniscule beads in colorful patterns, similar to traditional Huichol designs from the indigenous group that originate from Western Sierra Madre, primarily from the states of Nayarit and Jalisco.

This isn't the first time Ricardo Seco has worked with shoes. He used to be the Creative Director for Converse in Mexico. Now, after only two years since his debut at New York Fashion Week, Seco has once again innovated in the world of fashion thanks to his use of traditional Mexican design.
