The 140 character social network announced its most relevant moments

As the year comes to an end, Twitter released 2014’s most important events as they were seen by its users.

On the #YearInReview mini site, you can review the most talked about events during each month through a series of images in circles.

Some of the most talked about subjects this year were: The XXII Sochi Winter Olympics in February, the Oscar celebrity selfie in March, Coachella’s music festival in April, Brazil’s World Cup in June, Germany’s World Cup victory in July, the Ice Bucket Challenge between July and August, Robin Williams’ death in August, Emma Watson’s speech about genre equality in September and the United States elections, to name a few.

Also, the most popular tweets were revealed, where Ellen DeGeneres celebrity selfie is featured due to fact that it broke record as the most retweeted post in the history of microblogging.

The selection also includes Michelle Obama’s message for the release of the Nigerian girls, the spatial view of astronaut Alexander Gerst while he flew over the Gaza strip, the Michael Jackson video premiere, among others.

Twitter also acknowledges its 16 most outstanding users, given that their number of followers makes them the top opinion leaders:
