Information contained in emails that came to light after Sony Pictures was attacked by a hacker that also leaked several films is starting to emerge. Emails and documents authored by Sony executives comment on the possible inclusion of "Spider-Man" in the Marvel film universe, a move that already was being rumored about prior to the hack.

One of these emails came specifically from Amy Pascal, Sony Studios Director, revealing a potential appearance of the character in "Captain America 3: Civil War", , with also the potential to launch a whole new trilogy of movies based on the superhero. Of course, inside this contract it was stipulated that Sony would keep the creative license for "Spider Man", its marketing and film distributions.

After "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" received mixed reviews from critics and viewers, plus the fact that the character went through a reboot after the less-than stellar "Spider-Man 3", fans asked that the character return to Marvel, however, it seems to be that nothing has been set in stone and that Sony will move forward with its original plan for the character. Nonetheless, this could change, given that in January there will be several meetings regarding this matter to talk about the franchise's future.

The same email also revealed plans for an animated film by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, directors of "The Lego Movie" and "22 Jump Street", which is set to be a comedy. This could be a great opportunity for Sony to please a broader base of fans and make money at the box office.
