Will visit the United States instead

MEXICO.-Pope Francis' first visit to Mexican land won't happen any time soon, even though President Enrique Peña Nieto extended an invitation to the Pontiff back in June.

News agency EFE reported, then, that the Catholic representative accepted the proposal of traveling to Mexico for the first time since he took charge of the Vatican, however, the Secretary General of the Mexican Episcopate (Secretaria General de la Conferencia del Episcopado Mexicano, CEM, in Spanish), Eugenio Lira Rugarcía, denied any plans of him traveling to Mexico in 2015 existed.

"It was media speculation", said the bishop regarding the alleged trip. "It would be a wonderful event, but honestly there is nothing planned. We have to very honest, and there isn't even an agenda, nor date or place planned", confirmed the Church member.

Pope Francis won't visit Mexico, although one of the countries that he will visit next year is the United States, which will happen someday in September 2015, as part of the World Meeting of Families
