Top 10 Most Read Books in Mexico in 2014

Featuring Tijuana native Miguel Ruiz with "The Four Agreements"

MEXICO.- There are hundreds of books on shelves in libraries and book stores patiently waiting to be opened in 2015, because we all know that "reading more" is a common resolution this time of year that many never get around to. And plenty of Mexicans think no one in the country ever reads, but let us remind ourselves that many eventually do go out and at least buy books, so let us give credit to titles that had the highest number of sales in the country last year.

In a recent piece from Diario Reforma, the most sold books of 2014 were revealed through a list based on independent book stores records, retailers , providers and websites, disclosing the following top sellers in no particular order.

Among them, it's important to highlight the inclusion of a local Tijuana writer, Don Miguel Ruiz, author of spiritual and neo- shamanistic texts, such as his best seller "The Four Agreements". With more than 4,000,000 copies sold, we couldn't leave him out of the list:

1.- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

2.- The Battles In The Desert by José Emilio Pacheco

3.- Adultery by Paulo Coelho

4.- One Hundred Years Of Solitude by Gabriel García Marquez

5.- Fifty Shades Of Grey by E.L. James

6.- Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl

7.- 'Y colorín colorado, este cuento aún no se ha acabado' by Odin Dupeyron

8.- The Labyrinth Of Solitude by Octavio Paz

9.- I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai

10.- The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
