Baja Forensic Teams Get New Mobile Labs From State Gov

Along with the latest in CSI technology during ceremony with Governor Kiki Vega

MEXICALI.- While pointing out that Baja California is considered today as a model nation wide in formalizing and training police work and certifying crime fighters, Governor Francisco "Kiko" Vega de Lamadrid gave out equipment that will strengthen and professionalize the scientific forensic research and equipment carried out by Baja California's Office of the Attorney General (Procuraduría General de Justicia de Baja California, in Spanish).

By assigning five mobile laboratories and nine transportation vehicles to the agency, Vega de Lamadrid said out that the units that were given out will be geared towards the reinforcement and upgrading of techniques in crime services, such as criminalistics in the field, criminal identification and forensic laboratories.

The Governor pointed out that the State Government is concerned about offering punctual solutions to Baja California residents regarding fights against crime and strengthening law enforcement, which is why the Government is working on strengthening the coordination between security and investigation forces, so that together they can keep decreasing the state's crime rate.

He also mentioned that these mobile labs will be focused on providing quick attention to the Public Prosecutor's Office for processing evidence with high end multidisciplinary technological equipment, which will allow immediate and strong results, especially in very specific cases.

Vega de Lamadrid emphasized that his administration continues to work hard in preventing crime and pursuing justice, adding that they're still upgrading their communication, monitoring and quick respond systems, which each time are more efficient in preventing crime.Thanks to that effort, Baja California has seen a 5% decreased in first-degree homicides that are related to organized crime, compared to the figures registered from January to Novemeber in 2013.

On their part, State Attorney General, Perla del Socorro Ibarra Leyva, mentioned that from her agency, they've focused on certifying experts, police and scientific investigators characterized by their capability in research and attention to citizen, and proof of that is the delivery of high end equipment which was a 4,895,000 pesos (334,900 dlls) investment, while the mobile labs cost up to 500,000 pesos (34, 208 dlls).

"With this task that the Governor has given us, we have made and effort to acquire high-end technology that will allow the increase of reliability and quickness in processing evidence collected in crime scenes", she indicated.

During this event the Governor was accompanied by the Secretary of General Government, Francisco Rueda Gómez; Government´s Chief Clerk, Loreto Quintero Quintero; State Secretary for Public Security, Daniel de la Rosa Anaya; Federal Deputy of the LXII Legislature Congress of Union, Andrés de la Rosa Anaya; Deputy of the XXI Legislature State Congress, Juan Manuel Molina García, Secretary General of the State Federation of Scholls, Barra y Asociaciones de Abogados de Baja California, Pedrio Ariel Mendívil García.
