What's New With La Justina Gastro Bar

Chef Iker Castillo reinvents a bit the concept of the restaurant on Revolution Avenue

La Justina is a restaurant that adapts to the trends and diversity of products and dishes. It's always good to find new things in your favorite restaurant as well as being surprised with the Chef's creations.

Recently, there were some changes made to La Justina's menu. During this chilly weather some new dishes were added to go along with Tijuana's "winter season": pozole tostadas (my personal favorite), clam topped with marlin, chocolate shrimp and clams, and last but not least tempura oysters.

The concept of La Justina is that it's designed to be a place where you can enjoy craft beer, wine (of course), and their original drinks which are always accompanied by great food. This place is ideal to go with friends, whether you are spending the night or just passing by before you get the party started.

I personally love their decor, especially their "vintage" sign of Cafe La Especial and their counter, which has $100 USD of inverted pennies.

Lately, a lot of good restaurants and coffee shops have opened up on Revolution Avenue, but La Justina was one of the very first to bet on the rebirth of Tijuana's downtown, with all the new and upcoming places all around I think they are really pulling thorugh.

"I think that here in Tijuana we had very much forgotten about Revolution Avenue, we kinda gave it the stink eye. When we were drawing up the concept of La Justina, what we wanted to do was exactly that, change its image, lift it up a bit, all while doing it here and offer the public quality products. We weren't afraid of being here in downtown, it was a risk, yes, not many people would have taken it, but we decided to do it as an homage, given that it´s here where everything that says Tijuana begins," said Iker Castillo, Chef of La Justina.

Recommendations:

The pozole tostadas, are without a doubt a very different and delicious dish. Everyone agreed that this was the best to recommend. If you want to try them or taste their original menu, La Justina is located on Revolution Avenue, between 3rd and 4th street.
