Tijuana Toros Baseball Team To Upgrade Gasmart Stadium In 2015

Next season lighting, offices and dugouts will be upgraded

TIJUANA.- On April 5th, Gasmart Stadium will put on their best face for the inaugural game of the 2015 Mexican Baseball League (MBL) season, according to Rogelio Escalona, manager of the Toros de Tijuana's house.

Upgrading the stands, lighting, drainage, remodeling two dugouts and the administrative offices, are some of the works that are being done to benefit players, the press and their loyal fans that day by day get to enjoy the grand show that the stadium located in Tijuana's Colonia Capistrano neighborhood has to offer.

"One of the most important projects that we are working on is rehabilitating the park's lighting; we are separating the circuits in the tower lamps so we don't have problems; we are really working hard to get this ready for the pre-season", explained Escalona Morales.

Furthermore, a complete section of the stands is being replaced to give more comfort and security to the fans, part of a constant project focused on improving operation and security as well as the show that is presented at the stadium, which was opened in 1977.

"We are repairing the areas that are most damaged; we will be changing some sections, right now we are working with an area of 300 booths, will bring in newer ones; they will arrive on February 8th, and after that, little by little we'll change other sections. There will be very few areas of the stadium with the old booths", added Escalona during an interview inside Gasmart Stadium.

Other spaces will also receive improvement during this 2015 season, such as the dugouts, which will get new carpeting, tiles and toilet furniture to upgrade their image and comfort in order to benefit the local and rival players.

Regarding the field area, the stadium manager said that it's in excellent condition and that it's ready for the MBL season, that this year celebrates its 90th anniversary.

"The field only receives a routine maintenance; for the moment it's being used to work with new prospects that arrived two weeks ago," he concluded.
