Baja's Government Pledges To Attract 2.4 Billion USD In Foreign Investment

As part of Baja California's Crusade for Employment and Economical Growth (CRECEBC)

TIJUANA.- State Governor Francisco "Kiko" Vega de Lamadrid endorsed yesterday alongside officials and representatives of difference sectors, the commitment of maintaining Baja California's Crusade for Employment and Economical Growth (CRECEBC, in Spanish), which has as goal this 2014 to attract 2.4 billion dollars in foreign investment, as well as creating 55,000 jobs that will bring bigger development opportunities for the people of Baja California.

Vega de Lamadrid emphasized that this initiative paid off in 2014, when it created a single action front, with the help of City Hall and the Federal Government, which had as outcome the coordinated launch of investments, company support and elimination of development inhibitors.

"In 2014, Baja California was the state that generated more jobs, per every 1,000 habitants, almost a double of the job proposals pulled through; this is why today, we reiterate the commitments of economical growth and employment in the state, which will detonate the attraction of investments and job creations", he said.

The State Governor specified that funding through the state dependencies will be destined to support programs that will benefit companies and agricultural and fish producers. Adding up to this effort, measures to launch an economical and social growth in the region will be implemented, counteracting on the negative effects that certain measures have had regarding development.

The State Secretary of Economical Development (SEDECO in Spanish), Carlo Bonafonte Olache, informed that the State Government will provide main support to Mirco, Small and Medium companies, as well a to entrepreneurs with the purpose of promoting their creation and strengthening them.

Throughout the 46 measures that are considered part of CRECEBC, the support given to companies through an investment of $75,000 pesos ($5,100 dlls) to benefit funding for companies who have been running for six months will expand the taxation over the compensation of personal work up to a 100%, to all of those who are exclusively dedicated to agricultural, farming, fishing and forestry exporting activities.

Vega also added that with $6,000,000 pesos ($410,000 dlls) the program of Temporary Employment will be strengthen in order to support the creation of new formal jobs , helping to launch the medical tourism sector and benefiting 200 health companies as well as promoting the Information Technology sector which budgeting was duplicated to fund the Software Indrustry Development Program (PROSOFT in Spanish). Through the Secretary of Labor and Social Security, $10,000,000 pesos ($69,000dlls) were destined to launch strategic sectors, while at the same time training scholarships were given out with a funding of $22,000,000 pesos (1,500,000dlls) throughout the State's Secretariat of Infrastructure and Urban Development (SIDUE in Spanish), which will invest over $75,000,000 pesos ($52,000,000dlls) for the creation of 96 work and actions of strategic infrastructure.

On his behalf, State Coordinator of the Coordinated Entrepreneurial Council, Juan Manuel Hernández Niebla, acknowledged the actions launched by the State Governor through Baja California's Crusade for Employment and Economical Growth and confirmed the commitment of working alongside the State's administration and its different authorities.
