Baja California and Semanart Give Out Protection For Cold In Ensenada

11,401 pantries and 45,605 bedspreads and matts were given out

ENSENADA.- Governor Francisco Vega de Lamadrird alongside his Minister for Environment and Natural Resources, Juan José Guerra Abud, representing the Federal Government in the Baja California Peninsula, led a public event where the government handed out important supplies to communities in the state that are most vulnerable to the winter cold.

Vega de Lamadrid and Guerra Abud, delivered this support as a response to the winter weather alert that affected the city of Ensenada this past January 12th, benefiting over 46,000 people who received 11,401 food and 45,605 bedspreads and matts.

In front of 1,500 people who were present at the Plaza Cívica de la Patria, the Governor said that "in order to create the home we want and deserve for our children, everyone's participation is required, given that Baja California is a state of opportunities that depends on all us to keep on creating."

Vega thanked the federal government's support by saying that "we know the strengths that families have, but we are also aware of their insufficiencies and that they need this solidarity effort, so we thank the Federal Government's support so that more than 46,000 people can face the cold fronts that are coming up maintain their health."

On his behalf, Minister for Environment and Natural Resources, Juan José Guerra Abud, pointed out the commitment of the recent administration to support almost half a million of the cities residents that deal with low temperatures, by providing them food, bedspread and matts.

The chief in charge of the federal environment sector revealed instructions given by President Enrique Peña Nieta, saying that this support will be distributed in 187 cities throughout 18 states of Mexico that are being hit by cold fronts.

Lastly, Guerra Abud mentioned that according to the National System of Civil Protection (SNPC in Spanish) and the National Meteorological System,, 25 cold fronts are expected to arrive on national territory, which is why the nation was encouraged to take preventive measures, especially with children under the age of six and seniors.
