"Canelo" Alvarez Confirms Match Vs James Kirkland

The Mexican boxer tweeted about the match, a place and date has yet to be confirmed

MEXICO.- After Miguel Cotto's refusal to go up against Saul "Canelo" Álvarez, the Mexican team quickly searched for another rival, stumbling across James Kirkland, a prize winning fighter of known for its long career, but who has been out of the ring for a while now.

Álvarez confirmed the match through his Twitter account with this simple message:

It was expected that the official announcement was made on Friday, but apparently the Mexican boxer didn't seem to think that making his fans wait was worth it and revealed the news.

The match is expected to take place on May 2nd depending on what happens with the feud between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, if this match is settled, the Álvarez-Kirkland match will be moved to May 5th.

James Kirkland has a record of 32 wins and one defeat. He spend some time and jail and came in 2013 to defeat Glen Tapia.
