Budget For Baja's Agricultural Development Is Increased

It will increase to $25,000,000 dlls in 2015

MEXICALI.- As a commemorative act for the 78th Land Assault in Mexicali's Valley (Asalto a la Tierras en el Valle de Mexicali) anniversary, State Governor, Francisco "Kiko" Vega de Lamadrid, announced that in order to provide bigger opportunities for the residents and field workers of Baja California, this year the budget for the Secretariat of Agricultural Development (SEFOA in Spanish) will be increased up to $55,000,000 pesos ($3,700,000dlls) rounding up to a total of $372,000,000 ($25,000,000 dlls) that will be destined to strengthening this important sector.

The State Governor also pointed out that the development of Baja's farms and fields is very important for the current administration, which is why the announced resources, which include federal support, will help to launch actions and support programs for this relevant sector, helping the state's economy; "all of this with the purpose of strengthening Baja's competitiveness, sustainability and social equality in agricultural activities this 2015." said Vega de Lamadrid.

At the same time, he revealed that this agreement will be named "Canal 27 de Enero" instead of "Canal 4 de Abril", on behalf of the Hydraulic Committee of the Riego 014 Río Colorado Distric, from Sonora to Baja California, complying in this manner the acquired commitments of the state's administration leading this management to the recognition of Baja California's farmers.

He also announced important progress on the Institute of Agricultural Training project, which will provide opportunities to Valley workers and future generations, by acquiring the tools and knowledge they will need to strengthen the region's productive development.

To end with the festivities, Vega de Lamadrid, alongside his guests, bonded with the residents of Islas Agrarias B and Michoacán de Ocampo areas, to whom she restated his commitment to continue generating opportunities to achieve a good life quality for the people of Baja California.
