Boxer Julio César Chávez Gets Statue Unveiled in Culiacan

The Mexican champion is without a doubt the best boxer in history

CULIACAN.- Emotional, would be a word to describe the very much deserved homage that was made in Culiacan, Sinaloa to honor Mexican boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez, who for its long career got a statue placed in one of the city's most visited area, of course 'the legend' attended the ceremony and gave an emotional speech when the statue was unveiled.

During this event many boxing figures were present such as Zanfer's promoter from Tijuana, Fernando Beltrán, as well as Mauricio Sulaiman, Marco Barrera, Ricardo 'Finito' López, Don King and Gilberto Mendoza among others, Mayor Sergio Torres and State Governor Mario López (Malova).

Chávez gave his speech as usual, not holding back and joking around, while the crowd that attended cheered him on.

Jimmy Lennon served as master of ceremonies. Chávez mentioned that he doesn't consider himself as the best boxer of all times, he was simply lucky that his opponents "were easy matches", he joked.

The champion was also praised for overcoming addictions, which he talks about without shame, given that they're in the past. Mauricio Sulaimán gave him an award for this achievement and for his career.
