MEXICO.- A supposed letter from Pope Francis Bergoglio, were he requests Argentina to avoid "mexicanization", caused a response on behalf of the Mexican Government, which is not-to-pleased with the reference.

The term "mexicanization" used by the Pope in a private letter to Argentina in regards to the increasing drug trafficking problem of the country, caught the attention of Secretary of Foreign Affairs, José Antonio Meade, who requested not put Mexico under this stigma.

"Far beyond putting Mexico under a stigma, or any other region of the Latin-American countries, what he should do is focus on improving dialogue spaces and acknowledge Mexico and Latin America's efforts regarding a subject that worries us" stated the foreign minister during a press conference.

He also informed that the Mexican Government send out a diplomatic note to the Vatican, expressing how they felt regarding the implication of this word used in a negative context.

The indignation behind the use of the word "Mexicanization" as a reference to the drug trafficking problem in Argentina came from a private letter that the Pontiff sent to the social leader Gustavo Vera, where he said:

"I pray that God protects you and the Alamedans. May we still be on time to avoid Mexicanization. I have been talking to some Mexican bishops and the whole subject is frightening" wrote the Pope on the letter which was revealed this past weekend, creating a polemic and indignation on behalf of the Mexican government, in spite of the insecurity and violence inn which the Mexican State currently lives in.
