422 Million Dollars Secured For Baja's Infrastructure This Year

The investment will complete the Federal and State order of the cities

MEXICALI.- As revealed by Governor Francisco "Kiko" Vega de Lamadrid during the 11th Session State Council of Infrastructure, an investment of 6,408,000,000 pesos ($422,000,000dlls) on behalf of the three orders of government in the matter of infrastructure will be used this 2015 in Baja California, strengthening development opportunities in the region through actions that will detonate economy due to the impact that they represent.

During the development of these projects, the council will secure the state's infrastructure development, revealing that the State Government made an initial investment of over 42,262,000,000 pesos ($149,000,000dlls) while the Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT) will invest over 1,479,000,000 pesos ($97,000,000dlls), as well as investments that can be translated into import an actions that will be developed throughout the five cities.

Governor Vega pointed out that Baja California is one of the country's most dynamic economies, which requires constant modernization and growth of it's infrastructure, contemplating this year to have a wide agenda planned regarding projects for the five cities, which will increase the infrastructure and create jobs.

"We are gonna bet on merchandise transportation with a new railway, by upgrading the Tijuana-Tecate railroad, which is considered as an strategic point for the state's development; furthermore, it will increase the capacity of out port, all of this tanks to the commitment we have towards sustainability, mentioned Vega.

On his behalf, Florencio Alfonso Padrés Pesqueria, the SCT representative in Baja, said that the Federal Government will make important investments regarding highway infrastructure, befitting the different cities, highlighting some of its main projects, like

[p]the conclusion of the highway sectioning the town of San Luis Gonzaga in Laguna Chapala, as well as El Faro bridge, among other projects that will launch tourism, ease merchandise transportation, save time, etc.

During the meeting, the most important works for each of the cities were revealed, pointing out the widening of Mexicali-Tijuana's highway, an investment of $288,000,000 ($19,000,000dlls); Tijuana will have an investment of over $888,000,000 pesos ($58,000,000dlls) for the upgrade of Tijuana-Tecate's short railway, which will widen the transport capacity of loading trains; Ensenada will have an investment of 245,000,000 pesos ($16,000,000dlls) destined to several promotion works of sport fishing; Rosarito will use $200,000,000 pesos ($13,000,000dlls) to widen the Machado bridge and Tecate will have over $172,000,000 pesos ($11,300,000dlls) to improve the second stage of urban works, among other proyects.
