"De la Mano Contigo" Program Goes Forwards in Ensenada Benefiting 7,500 People

Over $1, 800,000 dollars in funding

ENSENADA.- Over 7,500 persons have benefited from more than $28,000,000 pesos ($1,800,000dlls) channeled through the "De la Mano Contigo" (hand by hand with you";) program from the Baja government, and during an event yesterday, headlined by Governor Francisco "Kiko" Vega, several checks and services were distributed among those benefited in Ensenada.

This event took place at the Baja California Art Center, where Governor Vega pointed out that the $28,000,000 pesos, add up to the $1,399,000 ($100,000dlls) that during this year will benefit social, cultural and sporting rubrics, launching better opportunities for the people of Ensenada.

He also mentioned that during 2014, 118,000 "De la Mano Contigo" cards were given out statewide, which represents $180,000,000 pesos ($11,700,000dlls), translating into telephony, insurance policies and medical attention services, which are offered through mobile units that attend the different areas of the city, these services have as purpose fighting extreme poverty.

The State Secretary of Social Development (SEDESOE), Ricardo Magaña Mosqueda alongside the Governor, mentioned that the program is still working on the implementation of daycares, hoping to reach their goal of over 6,000 boys and girls, in order to support single mothers by taking care of their children while their provide for their homes.

As part of the program "Mejoramiento de Vivienda" (House Improvement) from SEDESOE, 200 water tanks were given out to the families of different areas of the city, as well 1,400 funding for mothers who support their families by themselves, giving them a check for $500 pesos ($33dlls) per child, with the purpose of contributing to the minor's education, a investment of over $426,000 pesos ($27,900dlls).

As part of the health actions launched by the State Government, Vega de Lamadrid gave out mammogram vouchers for ISESALUD, benefiting over 4,000 women among the ages of 40 and 69, in order to prevent and detect breast cancer; policies for Seguro Popular were also given out, this being a minor service that welcomed patients with soft palate and cleft lips.

As well during the event, over $2,000,000 pesos ($130,000dlls) in scholarship were given to 2,524,000 students; these funding included uniforms, for learning achievements and special education, this investment was provided by the State's Secretary of Education. Likewise, 3 people received wheel chairs thanks to Baja's DIF, led by Mrs. Brenda Ruacho de Vega.
