Republican Ted Cruz Announces 2016 Presidential Run

He is the first one to do it

TEXAS.- The upcoming election for President of the United States will take place next November 2016, and the first one to officially announce is Senator Ted Cruz, who decided to kick off his pre campaign, late last night with a tweet, followed by a rally today.

With that said, the Cuban and Irish-roots politician, is the first one to apply for the White House's presidential position, a campaign that looks to have Jeb Bush and Scott Walker as high profile candidates: "I'm running for President and I hope to earn your support", wrote Cruz on Sunday night alongside a 30 second video to pin point his interest.

The Texas representative made a personal announcement from the conference room of the Liberty University in Virginia on Monday, the biggest institute of Christian education worldwide.

Ted Cruz began his political career in 2012 as Texas Senator. A very short but intense career, that won him many followers and recognition that gave him strength in the Senate despite his status as a newcomer, especially due to his fearless criticism towards Barack Obama's administration and his Obamacare initiative. In 2013, Cruz gave a nearly 22 hours filibuster speech at the Senate, in order to block funding for the Affordable Care Act. Finally, the financial feud of said program concluded with the first Shut Down since 1995.

Cruz is no shoe-in for the nomination, mostly because of his perceived far-right politics on many issues, namely still opposing federal recognition of gay marriage, highly anti-abortion and anti-immigration, despite the fact that he himself is Canadian-born (which will no doubt be brought up in the campaign) of Cuban and Irish immigrants. A hypocrite?

Yes.
