National Immigration Cross-Border Congress Begins In Tijuana Today

From March 26 to 27 at Hotel Camino Real

TIJUANA.- With the purpose of getting to know the progress, challenges and perspectives of the migratory phenomenon in Tijuana, the City invites its citizens to participate in their first "National Cross-Border for Immigrant Rights, Culture and Identity", that will take place on March 26 and 27 at Hotel Camino Real.

During the press conference, president of the Committee on Border Issues, Martha Leticia Castañeda Rojas pointed out that the event has a purpose of creating a debate that will analyze the public policies of cities on the border regarding the matter of migrant protection.

"We're going full on towards subjects that allow the protection of human rights as a guarantee as well as the right of identity. We also want to show the progress, challenges and perspectives that allow forming alliances that will motive a joint work between the government and civil society", mentioned the official.

On her behalf, president of the Human Rights Committee, Vulnerable Groups and Native Affairs, María del Refugio Lugo Jiménez, informed that they will have the participation of several lecturers experts in the subject, such as the Executive Director of American Civil Liberties Association in San Diego, Norma Chávez; local deputy, Laura Torres; and Zacatecas State Deputy, José Hernández Ríos, among others.

The congress will take place on March 26 and 27 at Hotel Camino Real starting at 10:00 a.m.
