Francia - Baja California innovate

Baja California a state with many opportunities for development and cooperation or partnership.

In the frame of a three day visit through Baja California of a delegation of twelve French companies, headed by the ambassador of France in Mexico, Maryse Bossiere, the event "France and Baja California Innovate," co-organized by the government of Baja California, the French Embassy and the Franco-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CFCMI) took place in Tijuana.

In her speech, the diplomat assured that France is a dynamic country with a lot of potential and competitive advantages, in which innovation is quickly developed.

"France is the second world economic power in Europe and the fourth in the world; as stated by reference classification of the 100 most innovative companies in the world, twelve are French; Paris is the European city with most international company headquarters," she emphasized. The former is particularly due to three factors: 1) infrastructure quality due to a developed web of highways and railways, 2) the quality of workforce that benefits from one of the best educational systems in the world, 3) and the quality of research with 240,000 researchers; France is the fourth country around the world with regard to registered patents per year, and second, after the US, to have won the most Nobel Prizes.

"These results, have also occurred thanks to the active policy on behalf of the French government on supporting innovation, in particular, a fiscal measure, unique in Europe that allows the exoneration of taxes up to 30% of all R&D spending, which has converted itself into a strong incentive for research subsidiaries to locate themselves in France," she assured.

To conclude her participation, the diplomat indicated that France and Mexico have an ample and promising bilateral agenda, after the successful event that was the visit of the French President Francois Hollande to Mexico last April, adding that the approximately 400 French companies established in Mexico are investing great amounts.

On his behalf, the Sub Secretary of Economy, Juan Antonio Martinez Zaragoza, manifested Baja California's interest to participate in the economic forum that will be organized during the visit of the Mexican president, Enrique Pena Nieto, to France in July 2015.

He emphasized French investment projects in the aerospace and electronics clusters and celebrated the agreements achieved with the Champagne-Ardenne in these sectors.

During this event, in which the ambassador was accompanied by personnel of the Embassy (SER, Ubifrance, the Cultural and Scientific Cooperation Service), as well as representatives of the Champagne-Ardenne region, the public was offered a dynamic cycle of conferences based on French "know how" regarding innovation.

Adrien Tiecha, commercial director of Degremont Mexico, a company that specializes in water treatment, and present in 70 countries, spoke regarding how expert teams of this French firm conceive, construct, and put in place drinking water production or desalinization installations, effluent water treatment plants, and mud treatment installations for communities and industries.
