Looking for great Chinese food in Mexico? There is only one place to go and that's to the warm and sunny streets of Mexicali, which is why we recommend you visit their China Town called "La Chinesca", located in the heart of the city, this town is known for its colorful streets.

The city of Mexicali is home to one of the largest communities of ethnic Chinese residents in Northern Mexico and possible Baja. Going back a little in history, around the 20th century a huge wave of Chinese arrived in Mexicali from the United States and China in order to work for an American company called Colorado River Land Company, this being a factory that designed and installed an irrigation system in the valley, having as purpose accommodating crops.

Chinese may have populated Mexicali, but it was the Russians who arrived at Ensenada, being the first ones to work the land and promote the city's most important activity: Wine making.

Russians arrived at Baja in 1905, running away from their civil war. Seduced by the calmness of the city, they decided to stay and crop grapes motivated by the weather and fertile soil of Valle de Guadalupe.

Nowadays, we can identify Ensenada as an important wine producer that we can't stop recommending. With that said, we invite you to know more of this community by visiting the Russian Community Museum and their restaurant which has authentic Russian dishes such as Shashlik (shish kebab) and piroshki. So, there you go! Which activity caught your attention? We invite you to recommend some activities for this spring break here in Baja.
