Today is International Kiss Day!

The longest kiss in history lasted 46 hours

WORLD.- Single or taken, today is a great day to bring out your most affectionate side and kiss all your loved ones. It can be your mom, dad, siblings, best friend or pet. Kissing isn't necessary a romantic activity, which is why today, we invite EVERYONE, to celebrate International Kiss Day.

This day is in honor of the longest kiss in history, which lasted 46 hours, 24 minutes and 9 seconds. However, this is not the only reason we celebrate it, it's also to pay homage to the act of kissing, given that is an expression of intimacy, in spite of the social, natural and less significant practices in our daily routines, such as formally kissing someone as a way to say hello.

Furthermore, kissing is good for your health! In order to kiss someone we move approximately 36 muscles, and if that wasn't enough we also release hormones that improve our mood, such as oxytocin and endorphins. Kissing also reinforces our immunologic system and helps us create a tolerance to physical pain. This may be the reason why as little kids we felt at ease when our moms kissed us after hurting ourselves. And there you have it…so, who are you going to smooch today?
