Baja's Citizen Observatory for Public Security Presents 2014 Achievements

TIJUANA.- This afternoon, City Mayor Dr. Jorge Astiazarán Orcí attended the sixth orderly session of

the State's Citizen Observatory for Public Security, where the main actions done by said organism regarding security were presented.

During the meeting that took place at Cetys Universidad, the Mayor pointed out that despite that progress that this governmental area has achieved, there are still many challenges to overcome, which is why team work is essential.

"The times when the Government's word was irrefutable, are long gone; today, society watches upon us in different manners, the way this observatory does. Citizens know that in order to take Tijuana and Baja itself along a path of security and transparency we need to stay together, to create a city that has even a greater respect for everyone's rights," , mentioned Mayor Astiazarán.

On his behalf, President of Baja's Citizen Observatory for Public Security and Cetys Universidad, Fernando León García presented the main actions made by this organism, on which he pointed out the study regarding criminal behavior and incidence in the state during 2014 to present day, the evaluation of national security programs as well as the creation of a national encounter citizen observatories and forums for analysis between States.

Baja California was the first state of Mexico to create an organism that was conformed with the three branches of Government, academic institutions and civil associations in order to make the transparency of the work and initiatives with the different programs and fundings visible.
