Nowadays, not getting enough sleep is something very well accepted by society, being generally associated with academic of occupational activities.

However, less than 6 hours of sleep could alter important processes that take place while sleeping, such as hormonal, growth, memory and immunological processes. Furthermore, it changes our leptin and gherlin levels, hormones responsible of regulating our appetite and satiety (fullness).

The specialist mentioned that unbalanced production of substances could result in weight gain.

"This is a worldwide theory on how humanity begins to gain weight, given that our sleep periods decrease, this being a socially accepted restriction, which in the end affects our general quality of life," commented Sandoval.

It is important to sleep the same amount of hours every day as well as establishing healthy habits that help you relax before you go to bed such as washing your face, brushing your teeth and maintaining an active sex life.

Likewise, experts recommend eating low fat and easily digested food and avoiding energizing drinks and coffee 4 hours before you got to sleep.
