Apple Watch 'Discriminates' People With Tattoos

Tattooed users have reported that the watch does not work appropriately

Remember all that talk from your parents about how tattoos are wrong? Well, it appears to be that Apple shares this way of thinking, given that several users have reported on social media some flaws in the company's newest item, the Apple Watch.

Problems have resulted directly from people who have tattoos on their wrist, where they place the watch. Ink may be the cause of why the heart rate sensor on this device isn't working appropriately. Apple Watch uses heart rates to determine whether or not the device is being used, if it doesn't perceive any signal it blocks call reception and notifications, as well as some apps.

Users discussed this problem on Apple's blog, iMore, where it was confirmed that this problem exists. The flaw is due to Apple Watch transmitting a red an green light through the skin, which is absorbed or reflected by blood. This allows Apple Watch to measure your heart rate.

It was found that tattoos with very dark colors are the main cause of this flaw, given that ink prevents the light to penetrate the skin. The device does work on any color of skin and is not affected by any type of scars.

Apple hasn't made any comments regarding the matter.

Even though the majority of the population is below the tattoo index, Apple needs to correct this problem if they want to increase their sales. It's probable that the company has already detected this glitch and decided to overlook it given its high price or just because they would have to sacrifice certain functions. Who knows? maybe in a near future when Apple decides to bring out a new version of this device, something like a 'Apple Watch S', with the problem will be eradicated.
