Tips For Running On #NationalRunningDay

Make that workout count!

The first time National Running Day was ever celebrated was back in 2009 when several organizations in the United States decided to join forces in order to spread this sport through different races that take place every first Wednesday of June.

The purpose of this celebration is for runners to go on different races, talk to a friend about the benefits of this sport, challenge themselves with new goals.

So whether you love running or are new to this sport, here are some tips that might help your workout:

1.- Stretching is key, which is why you should do it before and after running. This helps prevent injuries as well as getting your muscles ready for impact, stimulating your blood flow.

2.- A long, slow and continuous pace is better that running at full speed for two minutes. Work on your endurance to achieve energy consumption, which helps burn fat and consequently loose weight.

3.- Consider doing series to activate you body's aerobic activity. Set your self short sections with several repetitions and you will eventually break your own records.

4.- Drinking water may not be an easy thing to do for everyone, but fluid loss in our bodies is directly linked to our performance, thus, dehydration is a risk that can be avoided while running if we drink enough fluids.

5.- Take your time to find your appropriate footwear, we all have different bodies and we adapt to different things. Instead of worrying about your running attire, invest on a good pair of running sneakers.

6.- Take care of what you eat, this however does not mean you should stop running. On the contrary if you're thinking on participating in a race you should have breakfast like any other day, just try to do it a few hours earlier than usual.

7.- Don't forget to include enough vitamins and minerals in your diet. You can find them in fruits and vegetables, or take some multivitamins.

In the end, what's truly important is that you actually want to exercise and that you leave behind any stigma about being a rookie or a pro athlete. Why not give it a try? Head out for a few minutes, take care of your body and run a few minutes!
