Baja California To Be Home Of First Plane Assembled In Mexico

Governor Vega announced the investment achievement during the Paris Air Show 2015

LE BOURGET, FRANCE.- With a $75,000,000 joint investment, Esterline and Hutchinson Aerospace announced to Baja's Governor, Francisco 'Kiko' Vega de Lamadrid about the operational growth in Baja, which takes into account the different meetings that take place in order to inaugurate de 'International Paris Airs Show', having its 51st edition from June 15th to the 21st. This event gathers the global aerospace industry, presenting the latest world wide innovations.

In the case of Esterline, a company that has manufactured aeroespacial components in Tijuana since 1980 and created a thousand jobs currently, explained that they seek to complement the United States operations by amplifying their capacity in the city, which is why they've estimated a $35,000,000 investment and had a 300 people increased in their workforce, expanding their sensor divisions, connectors and plastics moldings.

On their behalf, French based company, Hutchison is Ensenada's most representative aerospace company, they will provide a $40,000,000 investment over the next 5 years. With this investment, the company will increase their capacity and growth over their fabric components and systems, reducing vibrations and sound generated inside a plane, this type of innovations is used in planes such as A320 NEO, A320 and Boing 737.

During the meeting, Governor Vega restated the commitment of supporting the companies by reducing electrical fees, which will allow a noticeable reduction in costs. Furthermore, he also confirmed the announcement of Spectrum, regarding the project of making the first executive jet in Baja, and investment of $300,000,00 that will allow the completion of design, certification and production of an S-40 aircraft that is due to be constructed n Mexicali.

Vega also pointed out that this project will settle Baja California and Mexico's aeroespacial industry on a international level, given that this is the first aircraft the country is creating, having certifications and characteristics to leave its ground plant in Mexicali, and fly around the world.
