JAPAN.- Back in 2007, 44 year-old Tsukasa Kanda was sentenced to death along with two other individuals, for the murder of a young girl in Nagoya as she was making her way back home after work.
Kanda reportedly found his accomplices through the internet, and according to News On Japan, Kanda and his partners abducted the girl, put her in a car, took her money and hit her on the head with a hammer after she tried to escape.
Today, Tsukasa Kanda was hanged, making this the 22nd execution that takes place in the country ever since Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, came to power. Ten of these executions took place during his first administration, however, this is the first execution ordered by minister Yoko Kamikawa since 2004.
Kanda's accomplices were sentenced to life in prison. The Asian country has approximately 129 people sentenced to death, and the United States and Japan are the only countries who allow this type of executions.
