AT&T Enters Mexico By Gobbling Up Smaller Competitors

The blue giant will invest 3,000,000 in Mexico

Just a few months from formally finalizing AT&T's purchase of Nextel Mexico, some strategic movements have taken place in order to adopt 100% the identity of the American firm.

According to El Economista, the company is very close to turning Nextel over while they leave Iusecell for one more season. The main reason of this is due to the fact that Iusacell has a bigger market share than Nextel.

Victor Pavon-Villamayor, executive president of Oxford Competition Economics, mentioned that in the case of Iusacell it's most likely that they let both brands compete for a while and once the transaction is complete, AT&T will be the new name of the phone company of Grupo Salinas.

Currently, Nextel Mexico has approximately 3,000,000 clients, while Iusacell up to 6,000,000. In total de sum of its users will represent nearly 10% of the 100,000,000 AT&T wants around in North America, including the U.S..

Will this change represent a better service for its clients?
