Bombing In Turkey Leaves 28 Dead

It was a suicide attack

TURKEY.- According to the Turkish Ministry of the Interior, at least 28 people died and hundreds were injured during a suicide bombing in a Turkish city near the border of the Kobane, Syria.

The explosion occurred at noon inside the Cultural Amar Park in Suruc, where a group of people had gathered to request more help in order to rebuild Kobane, reported CNN.

Suruc is located 8 kilometers from the border and Kobane, a city which was host to a confrontation between Syrian rebels and Kurdish arm forces.

A number of ambulances and police vehicles rushed to the scene, where the explosion created a fire, according to the images spread by Turkish media.

"Children were screaming, everyone was running and screaming," mentioned witness Erhan Subasi to CNN. "Everyone was panicking, but trying to help."

A Turkish official mentioned that the Government thinks that the attack was a "retaliation towards the government's struggle against terrorism." The official commented that this anti-ISIS coalition "seeks to pursue a more active solution for the Syrian crisis."

Turkey's president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, condemned the attack.

"Terror has no nation, race nor homeland. Which is why we have been consistent in highlighting the need for global reinforcements regarding our fight against terror."

According to Reuters, it's believed that an 18 year girl caused the bombing, however, there isn't any official confirmation.

"Our initial evidence points out that the attack came from the Islamic State," mentioned a high rank official in Ankara.
