"Baja By The Sea" Brings To San Diego The Best Of Baja

The event at Embarcadero Marina Park gathered over 300 exhibitors who promoted several aspects of tourism

SAN DIEGO.- As part of the actions

for promoting Baja across the border, the successful event of "Baja By The Sea" took place on Saturday at the San Diego Bay, welcoming over 15 thousand people.

During this event over 300 exhibitors from Baja participated, among them tourist servers and operators, restauranteurs, producers, artists and wine makers from the region has as purpose showing the residents South of California the diversity that characterizes Baja.

"This is a very important effort that the State Government is doing though the Secretary of Tourism (SECTURE), the Ministry of Agriculture Development (SEFOA) and the Secretary of Fishing and Aquaculture (SEPESCA), alongside Baja's five cities, the Tourism and Convetion Comitees, the National Chamber of Restaurants and Season Food (CANIRAC), as well as with other organisms of tourist and economic promotion," mentioned head of SECTURE, Óscar Jesús Escobedo Carignan.

The state official detailed that "Baja By The Sea" is already considered the most import an event of tourist and economic promotion south of California, given that said event has gathered the presence of important figures on both sides of the border, and created great interest among US residents, as well as the region's media.

"We were very glad to see the attendance of our Hispanic brothers as well as the Anglo-Saxon piers; Baja is living an extraordinary moment regarding tourism and we've come here to reinforce precisely that message, inviting everyone to keep on visiting and for those who haven't to see what they've been missing," added Escobedo.

He also mentioned that this is the event's third edition, taking place in 2009 and 2010, being suddenly suspending but strongly renewed this year, having a very nurtured musical and entertainment program, as well as regional dish tastings from over 70 restaurants, Baja's wine and craft beer; among other products.

The event had 11 pavilions, 5 of them destined for each city of Baja and other distributers such as "Productos de Baja California", "Clúster Médico", "Clúster Deportivo", "Wine Garden", "Beer Garden" and "Estados Invitados" (Invited States), which this year were Jalisco and Veracruz.

Head of SECTURE reminded everyone that Baja is living at the top of their tourist moment since 2007, which he considers is the result of different factor, including the important actions of promotions and campaigns directed to the American market through SECTURE, which has generated an increase in hotel vacancies up to a 31% compared to last year.

"Our expectations have been exceeded and we are sure that this joint actions are the best way to consolidate Baja as one of the best and most important tourist destinations in Mexico."
